Jeram hulu: Two sisters are feared drowned after they went missing while on an outing in Sungai Jeram Hulu, near here this afternoon. Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Baharum Hasim stated that they received a report at 3.11 pm regarding the incident. A 12-man team, along with a water rescue team, was dispatched to the area for search and rescue operations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the report mentioned that four teenagers, aged 12 to 15, were bathing and swimming in Sungai Jeram Hulu. Two of them, both 12, were rescued by members of the public and taken to the hospital, while another two are believed to be still missing. Baharum Hasim mentioned that the water rescue team was conducting a surface search but had yet to discover any signs.
An eyewitness, Wan Mohammad Naqiuddin Wan Muda, 33, recounted that one of the missing girls was bathing across the river when she began showing signs of drowning. Her three friends entered the river to help but encountered difficulty staying afloat themselves. Wan Mohammad Naqiuddin said he rushed to get a boat, while another villager swam out to reach the victims and bring them to the bank. They found one of the girls about 100 meters from the location of the incident after they were carried away by swift currents.
