UiTM Accredited As MQA Quality Verification Centre For Micro-credentials

Shah alam: Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has been granted full approval by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) as a Quality Verification Centre (QVC). A QVC is an MQA-authorised body that verifies the quality of stand-alone micro-credential courses to ensure they meet national standards before being officially recognised.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, UiTM Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Ts Dr Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin announced that the historic decision was approved during the MQA's Lifelong Learning Assessment Committee meeting on July 3. The full accreditation aligns the management of the QVC under the Institute of Quality and Knowledge Advancement (InQKA), the university's principal entity responsible for overseeing academic quality assurance.

"Under the governance of InQKA, UiTM is responsible for conducting quality verification of Stand-alone Micro-credentials (SAMCs), spanning qualifications from Certificate (Level 3) to Doctoral Degree (Level 8) within the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF)," he stated. Shahrin highlighted that this recognition demonstrates UiTM's ongoing commitment to achieving the goals of the UiTM Strategic Plan 2030, particularly in advancing academic excellence and promoting lifelong learning.

He further elaborated that the accreditation from MQA is not just a significant honour, but also serves as recognition of confidence in UiTM's academic quality and governance. "This aligns with UiTM 2030's vision of elevating the university's global standing by offering flexible education that is relevant to industry needs and accessible to all sections of society," he added.

The approval further strengthens UiTM's position as a national leader in micro-credentials by ensuring short courses offered in Malaysia comply with strict quality benchmarks. Shahrin noted that the accreditation will also help streamline the endorsement of future-ready skills for both local and international workers, providing greater access for people to enhance and retrain their skills through flexible pathways from Certificate to Doctoral levels.

He concluded by stating that this achievement reaffirms UiTM's role as a driving force in the transformation of Malaysia's education landscape, aimed at developing knowledgeable, competitive, and values-driven individuals for the benefit of the country.
