UMNO Expresses No Objection to Political Funding Act Proposal

Kuala lumpur: UMNO has expressed no objections to the proposed drafting of a Political Funding Bill, as stated by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform), Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said. This development was shared during a press conference following the launch of the MADANI Accountability Framework 2026 town hall session.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the UMNO Information Chief clarified that while there is no current objection from the party, UMNO has not yet formally presented its official stance on the matter. This is due to the ongoing process of gathering feedback from all political parties regarding the proposed act.

Azalina had previously mentioned that the Political Funding Act is still being studied and will require the consensus of all political parties, who will be the primary users of the legislation.
