UMNO’s ‘Rumah Bangsa’ Open To All Who Wish To Join The Party, Says Zambry

Manjung: The Rumah Bangsa agenda introduced by UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is not meant solely for certain individuals but is open to all who wish to join the party, said UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zambry, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general, stated that the initiative is inclusive, inviting everyone to participate based on collective action, with UMNO serving as a platform not for specific individuals but for all, including former UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin. He emphasized that each member brings unique strengths and contributions, echoing sentiments shared by the UMNO President. Zambry made these remarks following the presentation of the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) Compassionate Cash Aid (BWI) for the Manjung district. He highlighted that the concept of Rumah Bangsa is deeply rooted in UMNO's historical role since its inception in 1946, when it united over 100 Malay organizations a gainst the proposed Malayan Union. Zambry remarked that this principle is central to UMNO and Barisan Nasional's mission of unity, peace, security, and stability, which aims to maintain harmony within the Rumah Bangsa framework. The Rumah Bangsa initiative is seen as a significant and constructive proposal by the UMNO president, who has encouraged former members to return to the party, especially during the spirit of Ramadan. Following Ahmad Zahid's announcement, several former UMNO members have expressed varied reactions regarding the party's openness to former members, including those expelled or suspended. The Rumah Bangsa Committee, chaired by UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, will oversee the coordination process in line with the UMNO Constitution. In addition to discussing the Rumah Bangsa initiative, Zambry, who is also the Higher Education Minister, announced the expansion of the Dapur Siswa MADANI initiative to polytechnics nationwide, aiming to extend benefits to more students. He mentioned that he had visited several universities, including Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, to assess the initiative's operations and has requested the inclusion of polytechnics. The Dapur Siswa MADANI initiative, announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last January, received RM15 million in funding for its implementation. This free meal and food bank initiative is financed from unused funds under the previous year's Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme.
