Verify First Before Sharing Information – Zulkifli

Kuala lumpur: Malaysians have been urged to practise the principle of 'tabayyun', which emphasises verifying the authenticity of information before sharing any news related to the global energy crisis, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan. He reminded the public not to be influenced by unverified information that could cause panic and confusion.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Zulkifli emphasized the complexity of the global energy crisis, explaining that it requires a mature approach from everyone. He reassured citizens that despite global conflicts, Malaysia remains stable, attributing this to the effective management by the government. This stability has been acknowledged by JP Morgan and the Milken Institute.

Dr Zulkifli highlighted that Malaysia continues to maintain sufficient supplies of essential goods, including chicken, eggs, rice, cooking oil, and flour, with an oversupply of vegetables in the market. He observed that Aidilfitri celebrations remain lively, with open houses full and roads congested, reflecting the country's current reality. He also noted the continued availability of petrol, diesel, and gas, supported by subsidies from the MADANI government to protect the people's welfare.

He encouraged Malaysians to adopt a moderate lifestyle, be thrifty, and use energy wisely. Dr Zulkifli concluded by stating that a strong nation is built not only by the government but also by its people, who should be wise, calm, united, rational, and responsible in managing resources and sharing information.

The statement followed claims by PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, who alleged that the government had deceived the public with fuel price increases in Peninsular Malaysia, questioning why similar measures were not applied in Sabah and Sarawak.
