Johor bahru: WM Senibong successfully raised RM100,000 through its Walk for Hope Charity Walkathon, an initiative aimed at supporting individuals with autism and raising public awareness. Its chief executive officer, CK Quay, stated that the initiative reflects the company's commitment to fostering a more inclusive community. "Everyone deserves the chance to shine in their own way. Through this initiative, we hope to bring people together, raise awareness, and promote a society where every individual is valued," he said in a statement today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the funds will assist the Hope Garden Foundation in sustaining its educational and care initiatives for individuals, particularly children, with autism. CK Quay also expressed hope that the initiative would continue to nurture empathy and understanding within the community and encourage greater support for individuals with autism.
The Social Welfare Department reported a total of 58,708 children with autism were registered nationwide as of December 31, 2024, with Selangor having the highest number at 12,905 cases, followed by Johor with 6,879 cases.
The event, held at Emerald 3, Crest@Austin, brought together more than 1,000 participants comprising families, friends, and supporters who walked in solidarity to promote understanding and inclusion for those on the autism spectrum.
