Women’s Asia Junior Cup: India Hand Young Tigress A Hockey Lesson

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia suffered a second straight defeat in the 2026 Women's Hockey Asia Junior Cup when they were thrashed 11-1 by defending champions India in their Elite Group match at the Moqi Training Base in Moqi, China, today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, four players bagged a brace each for India: Sahoo Puja in the first and 42nd minutes, both from penalty strokes; Yadav Purnima in the fourth and 17th minutes; Yadav Geeta in the 28th and 53rd minutes, both from penalty corners; and Mane Sanika Chandrakant in the 43rd and 58th minutes, both field goals. Three others chipped in with one apiece: Dhan Binima with a penalty corner goal in the eighth minute; Sharma Krishna with a field goal in the 14th minute; and Sukhveer Kaur with a penalty corner goal in the 21st minute.

Nur Qaisara Qistina Mohd Khairi scored a consolation goal for the Young Tigress through a penalty corner in the 38th minute. Malaysia, who lost 6-1 to hosts China in their opening game on Friday (Sept 4), will face South Korea tomorrow and Japan on Wednesday (Sept 9).
