WPKL KPDN Undertakes RM4.5 Million Disposal of Seized Goods Over Two Years

Kuala lumpur: The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (WPKL) branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is set to dispose of seized goods valued at over RM4.5 million, encompassing 309 cases over a two-year period from January 2024 to December 2025.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative, dubbed the Kuala Lumpur KPDN 2025 Mega Disposal, marks the highest disposal value for the current two-year timeframe, including a significant disposal event today valued at over RM1 million involving 54 cases. Mohd Sabri Seman, the director of WPKL KPDN, emphasized the importance of these efforts in managing case items with integrity and preventing non-compliant goods from re-entering the market.

The items being disposed of are linked to violations under several legislative acts, including the Trademarks Act 2019, the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, the Trade Descriptions Act 2011, and the Consumer Protection Act 1999. The goods include a wide range of products such as clothing and fashion accessories, electronic components, health and beauty products, and vehicle maintenance items.

Mohd Sabri highlighted the societal benefits of this disposal action, noting that it helps prevent illegal goods from re-entering the market and raises consumer awareness regarding their rights and safety. Additionally, the action is designed to protect public health and the environment through controlled disposal methods, while also safeguarding local industries from unfair competition.

In 2025 alone, WPKL KPDN documented 584 enforcement cases, with seizures valued at RM4,660,328.06. Compounds imposed amounted to RM825,500, and fines totaled RM255,658. The largest category of disposed items was fashion clothing and accessories, with 24,800 units disposed of under the Trademarks Act 2019.

The disposal process, conducted at the WPKL KPDN exhibit storage facility, follows court proceedings and legal provisions, ensuring systematic compliance with the Exhibit Management Standard Operating Procedure. The event is overseen by Mohd Sabri, with participation from Selangor KPDN director Mohd Shahran Mohd Arshad.

Looking ahead, Mohd Sabri stated that WPKL KPDN will focus on combating large-scale syndicates involved in the misappropriation and leakage of controlled goods. Enhanced enforcement strategies will target major syndicate networks more effectively in the coming year.
