Yayasan Peneraju and CIMA Malaysia Collaborate to Enhance Talent Development

Kuala lumpur: Yayasan Peneraju (YP) strengthened its long-standing partnership with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) through the official appointment of CIMA Malaysia as its Approved Learning and Training Institution (ALTI).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the onboarding of CIMA, effective September, marked another significant milestone in the foundation's continued commitment to expanding access to globally recognised professional certification pathways under its new financing scheme. YP chief executive officer Ibrahim Sani stated that the new financing scheme would enable Bumiputera talents to take greater ownership of their professional growth while selecting their own preferred training providers or ALTIs.

"In 2026, we aim to train 2,000 Chartered Accountants as part of our broader ambition to produce 5,000 Chartered Accountants annually by 2030. We are confident that this partnership will help us realise that ambition and nurture Bumiputera professionals who can compete and lead on a global stage," he said in the statement.

To date, more than 9,000 Bumiputera talents have benefited from YP's professional accounting programmes nationwide. Ibrahim emphasized that designating a professional body like CIMA as an ALTI provides a more direct learning path, allowing talents to be trained by CIMA directly, avoiding intermediary institutes.

He noted, 'The idea is to cut costs, increase efficiency and deliver the syllabus through a direct pathway, from the issuer to the talent with no intermediaries in between. This is a bold step for both YP and CIMA.'

With this appointment, most of CIMA's professional programmes are now eligible under the YP Financing Scheme, including the CGMA® Finance Leadership Programme Skills Plus, CGMA® Finance Leadership Programme Skills Core, CFO Programme, Senior Executive Programme (SEP), and CIMA-MIA Senior Leaders Programme. YP explained that these programmes are crafted to equip participants with advanced management accounting and leadership capabilities, supporting their journey towards the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation, which is recognised across 188 countries.

Meanwhile, South East Asia Markets, American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and CIMA director Saritha Subramaniam highlighted that this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to nurturing talent and advancing lifelong learning, key drivers of Malaysia's growth and global competitiveness.

She announced, 'In line with this commitment, we are also pleased to announce the first cohort of CGMA Bumiputera Career Accelerator and Bumiputera Leadership Growth Accelerator Initiative, with participation from leading government-linked companies. These programmes are designed to support high-potential Bumiputera graduates and experienced professionals in accelerating their career progression through the CGMA qualification.'
