2026 Fujian Provincial Conference to Drive Cultural and Tourism Economy in Zhangzhou

Zhangzhou: The 2026 Fujian Provincial Conference on the Development of Cultural and Tourism Economy is set to open on April 17 in Zhangzhou, located in southeastern China's Fujian Province. The two-day event aims to advance the cultural and tourism industry as a pillar of the regional economy, under the theme "Building a World-renowned Tourist Destination and Fostering Cultural and Tourism as a Pillar Industry."

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zhangzhou, the host city, is strategically leveraging the conference to enhance its appeal as a tourist destination. Known for the Nanjing Tulou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Zhangzhou features landscapes where mountains meet the sea, attracting both domestic and international visitors. The city is focusing its efforts on promoting five major cultural and tourism themes: Maritime Culture, Ecological Civilization, Tulou Heritage, Ancient City Charm, and Minnan Architecture.

Initiatives include launching promotional materials in the Hokkien dialect, organizing inspection tours for travel agencies from key markets, and staging Minnan cultural comedy performances. These efforts aim to showcase the unique charm of Minnan culture to a global audience, aligning with Fujian's vision of becoming a world-renowned tourist destination with cultural depth.
