21 Houses in Simpang Pulai Hit by Flash Floods

Simpang pulai: Twenty-one houses in Lorong Pulai Raya 4, Simpang Pulai, were hit by flash floods after two and a half hours of heavy rain last night.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Civil Defence Force's (APM) Kinta District Operations Control Centre reported receiving a call at 9.31 pm from an operations officer to monitor the Simpang Pulai area. The monitoring team arrived at the flood site at 10.28 pm, supported by four police officers from the Simpang Pulai station.

The report indicated that the road was submerged and became impassable due to the flooding. The cause was identified as a blocked drainage system resulting from a new housing project. The water level receded to 0.22 metres by 1.09 this morning after the rain ceased.

No temporary relief centres were opened, as the blocked drains have been cleared, and the floodwaters have fully receded. Simpang Pulai assemblyman Wong Chai Yi and officials from the Ipoh City Council visited the affected area to assess the situation.
