ABIM Calls For UN Observer Team In Palestine To Oversee Peace Plan Implementation

Kuala lumpur: An international observer team, supervised by the United Nations (UN), should be deployed to Palestine to ensure United States President Donald Trump's proposed peace plan is implemented smoothly and without obstruction.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (ABIM) president, Ahmad Fahmi Mohd Samsudin, in welcoming Hamas' conditional acceptance of the peace plan, said it cannot rely solely on political statements but must be accompanied by clear guarantees and international oversight.

He stated that this is crucial to ensure genuine respect for the ceasefire, protect the safety of the Palestinian people, and allow unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid. "The presence of legitimate UN observers will demonstrate that it is the collective responsibility of the international community to protect the Palestinian people, and that peace can only be achieved through firm and genuine shared commitment," he remarked in a statement today.

Ahmad Fahmi added that the peace plan initiative should not be used as a political theatre or a means to seek personal recognition, such as the Nobel Peace Prize, while the suffering of the Palestinian people persists. "The rights of Palestinians should not be treated as a bargaining chip or political leverage by any major power, they must be upheld as a fundamental principle of international justice," he said, adding that the current reality on the ground continues to show the Zionist regime continuing its bombardments, increasing the civilian death toll.

Hamas was reported today to have accepted parts of the ceasefire plan proposed by Trump, but stated that several elements in the plan still require further negotiations.
