Kuala lumpur: Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) has appointed Amir Hamdan as its president and group chief executive officer (PGCEO), effective August 15. This announcement marks a significant transition for the company as Amir had been serving as the acting PGCEO since July 1.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prasarana's chairman, Tan Sri Mohd Nasir Ahmad, highlighted Amir's outstanding performance and significant contributions since joining the company. He noted that Amir's calm yet authoritative leadership, aligned with the company's work culture, demonstrated his capability to lead the Prasarana Group forward. The board expressed confidence in Amir's ability to steer the organization towards greater achievements in line with the national agenda of strengthening the country's public transport system.

Amir expressed his gratitude for the appointment, describing it as a great trust and responsibility. He emphasized his determination to strengthen the country's public transport system through an inclusive, competitive, and people-centered approach. Amir believes that with the spirit of cooperation and shared commitment, Prasarana can achieve a higher level of excellence for the benefit of the community and the country.

Having joined Prasarana in 2019, Amir brings over 25 years of experience in finance, operations, and corporate strategy. He has held several key roles within Prasarana, including group chief operating officer (Operations), chief executive officer of Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, and deputy group chief financial officer.
