Anwar Commends Foreign Ministry for Enhancing Malaysia’s Global Standing

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today commended the Foreign Ministry for its significant achievements in elevating Malaysia's image and influence on the global stage. He acknowledged that despite a demanding schedule, Wisma Putra has effectively executed the responsibilities and efforts of the MADANI Government in promoting the country's international presence.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the prime minister credited this success to his international visits, particularly among ASEAN nations. "Thanks to the staff of Wisma Putra who were able to demonstrate their proud efforts, despite being burdened with much greater tasks than in previous years. (Based on) my experiences together (with Wisma Putra staff) in visits abroad (including ASEAN countries), I see a performance that is proud not only for me but also for the country," Anwar remarked during his speech at the Prime Minister's Iftar Ceremony with Foreign Ministry staff.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Anwar's wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj were also present.

Anwar emphasized that Wisma Putra, under the leadership of Mohamad, plays a crucial role in bridging visions and policies between Malaysia and other countries. He noted, "No joking, it's a serious note to the Foreign Minister, I said when the prime minister invites, not all ambassadors attend but when the foreign minister invites, I see so many present without fail."

The prime minister also highlighted the unique aspect of Ramadan in Malaysia, where non-Muslims are invited to break fast with their Muslim friends. He shared anecdotes from his childhood, illustrating the mutual respect shown by non-Muslims during the fasting period.

Anwar elaborated on the spiritual significance of Ramadan, describing it as Madrasah Tarbiyah, emphasizing the importance of spiritual discipline and integrity for Muslims. He expressed hope that the holy month would inspire Muslims to enhance their capabilities and better understand the essence of justice.
