Gelang patah: A Bangladeshi woman has been remanded for five days from today after she allegedly attacked her boyfriend, severing his genitals in a fit of jealousy at Kampung Lokan in Gelang Patah near here yesterday morning. Iskandar Puteri police chief ACP M. Kumarasan reported the incident following a police report by a 47-year-old local man.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the report was made after the man learned that his acquaintance, a 33-year-old Bangladeshi man, suffered serious injuries to his genitals and left hand, allegedly inflicted by the 34-year-old woman. The attack has drawn comparisons to a notorious 1993 incident in the United States involving Lorena Gallo.
Kumarasan stated that investigations revealed jealousy as the motive for the attack, as the suspect discovered her boyfriend had not divorced his wife in Bangladesh despite their ongoing relationship. The arrest led to the seizure of a 29-centimeter knife believed to be the weapon used.
The police confirmed that the suspect has no prior criminal record and tested negative for drugs. Meanwhile, the boyfriend is receiving treatment at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt with a weapon and Section 6 (1)(c) of the Immigration Act for entering and staying without a valid permit.
