Kuala lumpur: An owner of a business consultancy and management company was fined RM60,000 by the Sessions Court here today after pleading guilty to making false financial statement reports for three construction companies six years ago. Judge Siti Shakirah Mohtarudin meted out the fine, in default nine months imprisonment, on Chong Sook Mei, 43. The woman paid the fine.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chong Sook Mei was charged with making false statements regarding the contents of the 'Independent Auditors' Report' on page 10 in the Financial Statement Reports for the years ending August 31, 2018, and December 31, 2018, for the three construction companies. The offence, under Section 593(b) of the Companies Act 2016, was committed at the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) here, on October 3 and November 5, 2019.
The case was handled by SSM Prosecuting Officer Nurul Nabila Azmi, while Chong was represented by lawyers Gabriel Susayan and Faiz Taqiuddin Rusdi.
