Defence Ministry Hands Over 3,270 Laptops Contributed By MCMC to 38 SDKs

A total of 3,270 laptops, contributed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), were handed over to 38 Schools in Camps (SDK) belonging to the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) as part of the government's ongoing efforts to empower the education ecosystem and enhance access to technology, in line with the Ministry of Education's (MOE) Digital Education Policy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) Strategic Communications Unit stated that the laptops were handed over to five SDK representatives at the Terendak Camp and Sungai Udang Camp. The schools include Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Terendak, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kem Terendak, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kem Terendak 1, SK Kem Terendak 2, and SK Kem Gerak Khas.

The presentation ceremony was officiated by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin during his one-day working visit to the camps. Other notable attendees incl uded MINDEF secretary-general Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, Army Chief Gen Datuk Azhan Md Othman, Commander of Army Field Command West Lieutenant General Datuk Malek Razak Sulaiman, and Commander of the 3rd Division Major General Datuk Mohamad Suria Mohamad Saad.

Mohamed Khaled also officiated the symbolic presentation of a RM25 million allocation for maintenance and teaching aid for the SDKs for 2026 to Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff Royal Malaysian Air Force Brig Jen Mohd Sam Mohd Yusof. Additionally, educational assistance was provided to the children of MAF personnel, including students with disabilities and chronic illnesses.

The Defence Minister received a briefing on the MAF hospital development project and the upgrading of the water reticulation system by MINDEF Development Division, Technical Services Branch director Hanafi Abdullah. The briefing covered work scope, progress status, and comprehensive implementation planning of the projects.

The new RM3 20 million MAF hospital development project, approved under the Second Rolling Plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) in 2022, began physical work on Nov 14, 2024, and is scheduled for completion on Jan 10, 2029. The hospital, with a capacity of 150 beds, aims to replace existing facilities over 60 years old and will provide medical, specialist, and dental services to MAF personnel, veterans, and the local community.

The water reticulation system upgrade, approved under the Fourth Rolling Plan of the 12MP in collaboration with the Public Works Department (JRK), aims to ensure a safe and sustainable water supply at the Terendak Camp by upgrading the existing system.

Mohamed Khaled also visited the MADANI Economic Programme site, where Phase 1 of the Mushroom Urban Farming Project is progressing positively. As of Dec 31, 2025, the project has produced 100.532 kilogrammes of mushrooms, demonstrating the effectiveness of smart technology and supporting sustainable income generat ion in line with the MADANI Economy aspirations.

Additionally, Mohamed Khaled visited the Armed Forces Family Housing (RKAT) in Jalan Kenanga, part of the initiative to enhance the welfare of MAF personnel and their families, aligning with the MADANI Camp's focus on sustainability, welfare, and economy to improve living standards.
