Efforts to Strengthen Nation’s Food Security a Shared Responsibility, Says Mohamad

Kuala lumpur: Efforts to ensure the country's food security are the responsibility of all parties, and not solely the government's, said Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu. He stated that the ministry constantly monitors every development thoroughly so that the country can be prepared in advance, in addition to ensuring the nation's food supply remains stable, sufficient, and easily accessible to the people.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing food security challenges. "We all have a role to play. Those with the space and means can start growing crops. Those in business should manage supplies prudently. As for consumers, avoid panic buying," he mentioned in a Facebook post. He expressed optimism that with continued efforts and cooperation from all parties, the management of the country's food supply can be strengthened to face challenges calmly.

Mohamad also highlighted the impact of global uncertainties on the food supply chain. He noted that factors such as the conflict in West Asia and global climate change have directly affected the productivity of the country's agricultural sector. Mohamad received a briefing earlier today on the latest status of the country's food supply, underscoring the need for vigilance and proactive measures in the face of these challenges.
