Elderly Man Injured in Vehicle Workshop Fire in Kampung Lahar Ikan Mati


Kuala Lumpur: An elderly man suffered burns to his back in a fire that broke out at a vehicle workshop in Kampung Lahar Ikan Mati earlier today. Penang Fire and Rescue Department director Mohamad Shoki Hamzah said the department received a distress call at 7.18 am and immediately dispatched a team to the scene.



According to BERNAMA News Agency, upon arrival, firefighters found that the blaze had engulfed a 22.3-square-metre workshop, destroying about 80 per cent of the structure. Several vehicles were also involved in the fire. A 64-year-old male victim suffered burns to his back. He was given initial treatment at the scene before being taken to the hospital for further medical attention.



Mohamad Shoki Hamzah added that firefighters managed to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby premises, and the fire was fully extinguished by 7.30 am. The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
