Petaling jaya: Police arrested a woman in her 80s for driving a car against traffic along the Damansara Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH) yesterday. Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat stated that the arrest followed the viral spread of a video capturing the incident, which occurred at 9:30 pm at Kilometre 10.8 of the expressway. The woman reportedly became disoriented while on her way home.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the suspect was trying to find a turnoff from the expressway when she began driving against the traffic flow. Fortunately, no accidents were reported involving her vehicle. The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The police have appealed to eyewitnesses or anyone present at the scene to aid the investigation by contacting the nearest police station or reaching out to the investigating officer, Insp S Jayseelan, at 018-2582531 or the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters at 03-79662222.
ACP Shamsudin Mamat also issued a reminder to all motorists to adhere to traffic rules and regulations to prevent future incidents.
