Tawau: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM), established 14 years ago, has consistently maintained its focus on fostering peace and providing benefits to the community in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail emphasized ESSCOM's commitment to creating peace, which has enabled the implementation of various government plans, including the MADANI Adopted Village Programme in Kampung Inderasabah. With an allocation of RM1 million, ESSCOM has chosen Kampung Inderasabah for several infrastructure projects, both physical and non-physical.
Saifuddin highlighted that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had previously announced a RM200 million allocation for the programme this year, involving 200 villages nationwide, including 12 or 13 villages under the Home Ministry. ESSCOM's CEO, Datuk Dr Jamaluddin Mohd Ali, pointed out the village's unique security challenges and its potential for eco-tourism and fisheries development, given its proximity to the Indonesian border.
The Ministry of Finance approved RM1 million on March 1, 2025, supporting projects such as the construction of the village entrance gate, upgrades to the pavilion, an open hall, futsal court, and mosque, along with solar street lighting, footbridge repairs, and enhancements to local community centers. Jamaluddin noted that ESSCOM, in partnership with the Tawau Municipal Council and GiatMARA Tawau, will oversee the smooth implementation of these projects.
ESSCOM aims to strengthen relationships within the ESSZone community, ensuring the area remains peaceful and resilient. Apas assemblyman Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan acknowledged the strategic partnership between Kampung Inderasabah and ESSCOM in preventing cross-border crimes and supporting community programmes. He expressed gratitude for the initiative, confident it will bring positive change and alleviate poverty while improving village infrastructure.
