Fewer Flood Victims in Sabah as Floods Recede, One Relief Centre Remains Open in Beaufort

Beaufort: The number of flood evacuees in Sabah has decreased to 557 individuals from 172 families as of 8 pm today, a significant drop from the earlier count of 1,387 individuals from 442 families recorded at 4 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) secretariat announced in a statement that three temporary relief centers in Beaufort were closed following an improvement in the flood situation. Despite the closures, the Banir State Assembly Hall remains operational to accommodate those still affected by the floods, with no fatalities reported at this time.

Additionally, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecasted rain in several interior regions of Sabah this evening. The situation is being monitored closely to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in the affected areas.
