Kepong: A one-acre forest reserve near the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) in Kepong caught fire today. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar stated that the department received an emergency call regarding the fire at 4.24 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a team of six firefighters along with a fire engine from the Sungai Buloh Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene and arrived nine minutes later.

Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar remarked that upon arrival, the firefighters found flames engulfing approximately one acre of the forest. Efforts to control and extinguish the blaze are currently ongoing.
