Kuala terengganu: A girl, aged six, was tragically killed after being struck by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) along Jalan Perumahan Batu Hampar, Manir, earlier today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Terengganu district police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor reported receiving the crash notification at 4.12 pm. The incident involved a Toyota Harrier colliding with a bicycle, seriously injuring Nur Adelia Qistina Mohd Shukri, the young cyclist. She sustained severe head injuries and succumbed to them while being treated at the Manir health clinic.
Preliminary investigations indicate the SUV driver was traveling from their residence at Batu Hampar housing estate to the Batu Hampar Ramadan Bazaar when the collision occurred. The bicyclist reportedly emerged suddenly from a right junction, leaving the driver unable to avoid impact, resulting in the bicycle being hit on its front left side.
The girl's body has been transferred to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for further examination. The case is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
