Inquest Into Zara Qairina’s Death Begins Tomorrow – AGC

Kota kinabalu: The Kota Kinabalu Coroner's Court in Sabah is set to commence an inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir tomorrow, August 18.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) announced that the inquest was initiated following a request by the Sabah State Prosecution Director, as per subsection 339(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code [Act 593]. The AGC emphasized the importance of the case to the public and expressed its commitment to expedite the proceedings to ensure justice is delivered for the family of the deceased and the public.

The AGC highlighted its August 13 media statement, which outlined the decision to conduct an inquest to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding Zara Qairina's death, including the possibility of any criminal elements. The statement underscored the need for a thorough examination of the events leading to her death.

On Wednesday, the AGC confirmed the inquest decision after careful review of the investigation report submitted by the Royal Malaysia Police on August 12. The deceased, Zara Qairina, was a Form One student at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar. The inquest aims to provide clarity and accountability regarding the tragic incident.
