Merlimau melaka: The Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK) has announced 13 strategic commitments to confront present and future challenges in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, JPPKK's director-general, Dr. Shamsuri Abdullah, emphasized the urgency of these commitments, noting that this year marks a pivotal phase for repositioning POLYCC (Polytechnics and Community Colleges) with the launch of the Professional and Technical Education (PTE). Key initiatives include branding POLYCC as a pioneer in PTE, empowering community colleges, implementing POLYCC legislation, fostering optimization and mergers, ensuring no student is left behind, and enhancing internationalization efforts.
Dr. Shamsuri highlighted that these 13 commitments are designed as a guiding framework for POLYCC staff, aiming to elevate TVET's reputation in line with practices observed in developed countries. This strategic agenda is part of JPPKK's transformative theme, 'Reformasi POLYCC Memacu Lonjakan TVET Negara,' which was inaugurated at the Polytechnic and Community College Education (KPKK) Director-General's Aspirations 2026 ceremony held at Merlimau Melaka Polytechnic.
In his statement, Dr. Shamsuri urged POLYCC staff to embrace change by stepping out of their comfort zones and engaging in reforms that are focused, disciplined, and evidence-based. This approach is expected to ensure POLYCC remains a significant contributor to the skilled workforce in the country.
