Kuala lumpur: The Kelantan branch of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) is actively engaging in training and fortifying its logistical arrangements in anticipation of the Northeast Monsoon (MTL), expected to commence next month.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the acting director of the Kelantan APM, Lt Kol (PA) Mohd Farid Ishak, outlined several strategic initiatives being undertaken. These include field training, particularly in areas prone to flooding, and water-based exercises designed to ensure that personnel are fully prepared for any challenges that may arise.

As a key agency in managing disaster operations, notably floods, Mohd Farid emphasized the necessity for all personnel to be proficient in water rescue techniques, boat operations, the handling of logistical equipment, and emergency communication protocols.

The water training regimen incorporates simulations for rescuing drowning victims, navigating boats in turbulent waters, and coordinating efforts with other critical agencies such as the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, Royal Malaysian Police, and the Social Welfare Department.

The phased training approach not only aims to enhance the skills and efficiency of APM members but also seeks to reassure the community of the agency's readiness to tackle any potential scenarios during the monsoon season.
