Kelantan: The Kelantan government has set an ambitious target to cut the state's drug addiction rate by half by the year 2030. This initiative is part of a broader strategy involving integrated 'jihad' programs aimed at addressing the drug problem across the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the State Youth, Sports, NGOs, and Community Unity Committee chairman, Zamakshari Muhammad, announced that the initiative would be expanded following a successful pilot project in Pasir Mas. This project was conducted in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police, the National Anti-Drug Agency, local leaders, and mosque imams.

Zamakshari, who also chairs the Kelantan branch of the Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (Pemadam), emphasized the state's unwavering commitment to combating drug addiction. He assured that the state government would maintain full cooperation with authorities to eliminate drug issues from the grassroots level.

The initiative aims not only to manage drug-related symptoms but also to address the root causes of addiction, fostering a safer environment for future generations. Zamakshari stressed the importance of collective effort, highlighting that drug addiction is an issue that transcends political, religious, and racial boundaries.
