KL Rubber Market Ends Mixed Amid Thai Production and Weak Demand

Kuala Lumpur:The Kuala Lumpur rubber market concluded trading on a mixed note on Wednesday. This outcome was influenced by weaker regional rubber futures, driven by expectations of an increased supply of raw materials from Thailand during its peak production season.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Japanese rubber futures saw a decline as the peak production season in Thailand progressed, with decreasing rainfall and anticipated lower raw material prices in October. Additionally, the market sentiment was affected by weak tyre demand, a sluggish domestic automotive market in China, and slow restocking by tyre manufacturers facing high raw material costs.

Despite these factors, losses in the market were mitigated by rising crude oil prices. These increases were attributed to geopolitical supply concerns and stronger-than-expected trade data from China.

At 3 pm, the Malaysian Rubber Board reported that the Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 (SMR 20) price decreased by 13.5 sen to 1,050.0 sen per kilogramme, while bulk latex remained steady at 781 sen per kilogramme.
