Kuala lumpur: Nearly 100 runners from the ASICS Running Club and regional guests took part in a shakeout run at KLCC Park today, gearing up for the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) 2025 this weekend. The light run, capped with mobility exercises led by coach Ili Kamal, aimed to prepare participants physically and mentally ahead of race day.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, ASICS Malaysia country manager Boon Tib Soom Nik stated that the session fostered camaraderie among runners. "The shakeout run allows participants to prepare together in a relaxed atmosphere while sharing the spirit of community," he said in a statement.
National athlete Daren James Nair, set to compete in the 10 kilometres (km) event, expressed his focus on enjoying the race and running at his own pace, despite high expectations from last year. "For me, it's about appreciating the moment," he told reporters at the event. Daren added that he has incorporated elevation training to tackle this year's reportedly hillier route.
Meanwhile, the KLSCM x ASICS official merchandise is available at the Active Lifestyle Expo at KLCC Exhibition Hall 6 from Oct 2-4 and at the Race Village on Oct 5. The marathon weekend features a full marathon (42km), half marathon (21km), 10km, and 5km fun run, with thousands expected to participate.
