Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is set to enhance the skills of its officers in strategic communication and crisis management.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MACC Strategic Communications Division (BKS) director Hisyam Mohd Yusoff stated that this initiative is part of efforts to gain accreditation from the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM), a professional body that sets ethical and professional standards in public relations. The move aligns with the MACC Strategic Communications Plan 2026-2030, which aims to elevate the professionalism of officers and ensure their adherence to industry standards.
Hisyam highlighted that BKS officers who become IPRM members will benefit from structured training, accreditation certification, and professional networking. This development will enhance the MACC's credibility in delivering accurate and effective messages while maintaining the commission's positive image.
In a statement following a courtesy call on IPRM president Jaffri Amin Osman at the Communications Ministry, Hisyam added that the MACC has proposed for IPRM to serve as an independent body. This body would facilitate a framework of standards and best practices for crisis communication management across government agencies.
Hisyam emphasized that through this framework, all agencies would have transparent and standardized operating procedures for handling communication crises. This ensures a more focused, consistent, and professionally guided communication approach.
