Malaysia and Myanmar to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Kuala Lampur:Malaysia and Myanmar have agreed on the necessity for coordinated and proactive measures by relevant ministries and agencies to advance bilateral cooperation, including addressing the issue of Myanmar refugees in Malaysia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized this agreement during his meeting and bilateral talks with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing. The discussions were followed by a joint press conference and participation in the Malaysia-Myanmar Cooperation Dialogue at Kompleks Seri Perdana, organized by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia.

The dialogue aimed to strengthen understanding between the two nations through the involvement of academics, scholars, think tanks, and business communities from both countries. Anwar highlighted the importance of translating the discussions into concrete actions and encouraged broader participation from academic institutions and the business sector to ensure that cooperation benefits the people directly.

He expressed confidence that open dialogue and dedicated follow-up actions would bolster trust between Malaysia and Myanmar, facilitating the resolution of outstanding issues and expanding cooperation with tangible benefits for Malaysians.

President Min Aung Hlaing concluded his two-day official visit to Malaysia today and has returned to Myanmar.
