Malaysia Emphasizes Steadfast Diplomacy and Strategic Global Engagement – FM Mohamad

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to constructive engagement and mutually respectful cooperation with all international partners, underscoring its long-standing diplomatic principles of trust, sincerity, and mutual understanding. Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan stated that Malaysia continues to adopt a balanced and pragmatic approach in managing its foreign relations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad highlighted the importance of maintaining and nurturing friendships with mutual respect and sincerity. He expressed these sentiments during his speech at the Foreign Ministry's breaking of fast program with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The event was attended by Anwar's wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and members of the diplomatic corps.

Mohamad emphasized that the conduct of foreign policy requires steadiness, noting that it often occurs away from the public eye. He pointed out the demanding nature of the global environment, where developments move quickly, issues are interconnected, and the margin for misunderstanding is small. In such a context, steadiness remains the top priority.

As an open and trade-dependent nation, Malaysia aims to ensure that its diplomacy is structured and well-coordinated. Mohamad stressed the necessity of having capable institutions and clear processes to support diplomacy, as these are essential for ensuring stability. This stability allows businesses to trade, students to travel, families to feel secure, and nations to plan for the future with confidence.

Earlier at the event, Prime Minister Anwar launched the Foreign Ministry Strategic Plan 2026-2030. This plan acts as the guiding framework for Malaysia's continued engagement with nations, international organizations, and stakeholders over the next five years. On this five-year plan, Mohamad stated that it translates national policies and priorities into a clear program of work for the ministry, reinforcing Malaysia's commitment to advancing economic priorities, deepening bilateral partnerships, and sustaining multilateral engagement.
