Male Tapir Found Dead, Believed Hit By Vehicle In Kemaman

Kemaman: A male tapir was found dead, believed to have been hit by a vehicle on Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan near a lemang stall in Kijal here today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Terengganu Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) director Loo Kean Seong stated that the 250-kilogramme tapir was discovered by a road user at about 11.40 am. The inspection revealed injury marks on the mouth, legs, and body of the wildlife carcass.

Meanwhile, Loo mentioned that four members of the Kemaman district Perhilitan were involved in taking the tapir carcass for disposal. He advised road users to exercise caution and remain aware of wildlife crossing areas.
