Kuala lumpur: JDT Racing Team rider Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah was named the International Circuit Racing Rider of the Year at the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) Awards Night 2025, here, today. Now in its fifth edition, the award also recognised Honda Racing Malaysia rider Azroy Hakeem Anuar as the National Circuit Racing Rider of the Year, while 2025 Spanish Superbike Championship (ESBK) champion Qabil Irfan Azlan received the Young Rider of the Year award. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, along with Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari, Ministry of Youth and Sports secretary-general Datuk Dr K Nagulendran, and MAM president Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mokhzani Mahathir expressed that the awards symbolize recognition of discipline, resilience, and professionalism in motorsports. He emphasized the significance of the awards as a testament to the growth and future direction of Malaysian motorsports. "With the expansion to 30 award categories, we are ensuring that every pathway, from grassroots development to international championships, is recognised and valued," he said.
The MAM Awards Night 2025 highlighted notable winners across various categories. Ahmad Afif Amran won both the National and International Underbone Rider of the Year awards. Saidatul Zakirah Zairin was named Female Rider of the Year, while Petronas Sprinta Yamaha - CKJ Racing received the National 2-Wheel Team of the Year award. Idemitsu Honda Racing Malaysia was recognized as the International 2-Wheel Team of the Year.
In the automotive categories, Naquib Nor Azlan was awarded E-Motorsports Competitor of the Year and International Driver of the Year. Kuah Ming Hui was honored as both National Drifter of the Year and Female Driver of the Year. HIREV Dream Chaser and Wing Hin Motorsports took home the awards for National and International 4-Wheel Team of the Year, respectively.
The awards ceremony also celebrated outstanding media contributions and industry achievements. Norsyafarina Nasrom from Astro Arena won the Story of the Year award in Electronic Media, while Mohd Hilmie Hussin from Flash Sukan and Muhammad Riduan Mohd Hanafiah from Kosmo were recognized in the Online/Social Media and Print Media categories. The Photo of the Year was awarded to Muhammad Afiq Azlan of Two Wheels Media.
Other distinguished honors included the Most Distinguished Woman in Motorsports Award to Mashithah Hashim, and the Most Inspiring Athlete of the Year award to Hakim Danish Ramli. The Industry Excellence Award was presented to RCB. Iconic figures in the motorsports industry were also recognized, with Tengku Djan Ley Tengku Mahaleel named Malaysia Motorsports Icon, and several individuals inducted into the Malaysia Motorsports Hall of Fame.
The awards ceremony underscored the achievements and progression of Malaysian motorsports, with a diverse range of categories celebrating talent and contributions across the industry.
