Kuala lumpur: The Gua Musang District Council (MDGM) requires an allocation of nearly RM1 million to upgrade and develop the Bandar Lama Gua Musang area as a major tourist destination in the district. Its president, Mohd Roshdi Ismail, emphasized the need for this investment to restore and redevelop strategic areas with significant potential to attract foreign tourists.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Roshdi highlighted the unique characteristics of Bandar Lama, noting its picturesque surroundings, historical limestone caves, and areas linked to the communist era. These elements, he believes, provide a compelling draw for tourists interested in both natural beauty and historical significance.

Mohd Roshdi stated that a preliminary framework has identified the need for nearly RM1 million in funding and that MDGM plans to engage with suitable agencies to propose enhancements in the Bandar Lama area. Among the locations earmarked for development are the old railroad station at the foothills-an area with historical ties to communist attacks-and the grave of a pregnant woman shot by communists, located in the Masjid Razaleigh area.

MDGM intends to collaborate with various agencies, including Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), to assess improvement needs and secure necessary funding. This initiative aims to revitalize the area, boost the local economy, and establish Bandar Lama Gua Musang as a prominent tourist destination.
