Melaka: The Melaka Road Transport Department (RTD) issued 481 notices during the enforcement of the Speed Limit Device (SLD) and Special Seat Belt operations for commercial vehicles, express buses, and tour buses.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Melaka RTD Director Siti Zarina Mohd Yusop reported that under Op SLD, which has been in effect since October 1, a total of 448 vehicles were inspected, with only 57 vehicles presenting the SLD Functionality Verification Slip.

Siti Zarina highlighted that 207 vehicles were subjected to enforcement action, resulting in 207 investigation notices being issued under Section 114 of the Road Transport Act 1987. The operation aims to enhance enforcement efforts and mitigate the risk of fatal accidents involving commercial and public service vehicles.

She further explained that the Special Seat Belt Operation, which commenced on July 1, involved the inspection of 639 vehicles, with 193 vehicles facing enforcement action.
