Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) remains committed to strengthening the capabilities and readiness of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) through the development of assets, technology, and human capital to ensure the force remains at the forefront of defending the country's airspace. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin emphasized the RMAF's vital role in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty as the force celebrates its 68th anniversary.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamed Khaled highlighted the professionalism and dedication of the RMAF over the past 68 years. He expressed gratitude to both current and retired RMAF personnel, acknowledging their contributions and sacrifices in upholding the nation's security and sovereignty.
The RMAF's history traces back to the passing of the Air Force Ordinance by Parliament on June 2, 1958, when it was initially known as the Royal Federal Air Force. The force was renamed the Royal Malaysian Air Force following the formation of Malaysia on September 16, 1963.
