Kuala lumpur: Claims circulating about the availability of additional BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy applications for the general public have been refuted as untrue and without basis by the Ministry of Finance (MOF).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MOF clarified that while the feature existed during the initial implementation of BUDI95, it was never intended to accommodate personal needs for increased subsidies. The feature was specifically designed for cases with verifiable operational requirements, such as those involving e-hailing drivers and boat owners, who meet certain criteria.
The Ministry highlighted that the additional application feature on the BUDI95 portal had been misinterpreted as a way to freely increase eligibility limits. Consequently, the application button has been deactivated to prevent misuse.
MOF emphasized that the current eligibility limit of 200 litres per month remains effective to ensure that subsidies are directed towards the majority of the population while maintaining supply stability. This decision comes amid ongoing global energy market pressures that have driven up subsidy costs, necessitating more prudent management.
Furthermore, MOF noted that data indicates the 200-litre monthly limit is adequate for 90 percent of BUDI95 users. At the subsidized rate of RM1.99 per litre, users can acquire up to RM398 worth of RON95 monthly, with the government subsidizing approximately RM500 per recipient.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the public, strengthening enforcement to prevent leakages, and monitoring global energy markets closely, remaining prepared to make necessary adjustments as needed.
