Ipoh: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) is encouraging motorcycle convoys to act as 'mini ambassadors' in promoting domestic tourism ahead of the Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2026 campaign. Perak MOTAC director Muhammad Aminuddin Abdul Majid said convoy participants can help highlight local heritage and tourist attractions through the content they create during their journeys.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muhammad Aminuddin emphasized that through their travels and social media sharing, motorcycle convoys become storytellers and cultural ambassadors, helping to spark interest in local destinations and boost the local economy. He was speaking after flagging off the East Coast Heritage Trail 2025 convoy. Also present at the event was 1969 Business Suite CEO Tony Wong.
The three-day programme, organised by the Salam Taiping Motorcycle Club, involves over 50 riders from various clubs and runs from June 27 to 29. It aims to showcase the cultural heritage and unique charm of the East Coast. Programme chairman and club president Mohd Nordin Mohd Yusoff noted that the 1,185-kilometre route covers Perak, Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan, with stops including Cherating, Kuala Terengganu, Kota Bharu, and Rantau Panjang, before concluding at Dataran Warisan Taiping.
Mohd Nordin further explained that the 'Ride and Learn' concept combines a passion for motorcycling with educational exposure to local history and culture.
