NADI School Uniform Initiative Offers Affordable Attire and Income Opportunities: Fadhlina

Kuala lumpur: The NADI School Uniform initiative is making strides in helping families purchase school uniforms at reasonable prices while simultaneously providing income-generating opportunities to graduates of the NADI Sewing Skills programme.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek highlighted that the initiative is an extension of the NADI Mahir Jahit programme, which is part of the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI). This programme equips housewives and single mothers with sewing skills, allowing them to use these skills to support their families financially.

Fadhlina Sidek revealed that the NADI Mahir Jahit programme has seen participation from over 2,000 individuals and is currently in its fourth intake. She explained that the NADI School Uniform initiative emerged from this programme, providing skilled alumni the opportunity to produce school uniforms sold at more affordable prices, which she wholeheartedly supports.

The NADI initiative, under its Lifelong Learning pillar, offers educational and skills training opportunities to underprivileged and marginalised groups. This includes programmes like NADI TINYTECHIE, NURTURE EKELAS Students, NADI E-Sports, NADI Rakyat Tuition, NADI Cybersecurity, and NADI Skills, covering various domains such as Sewing, Cooking, Gadget Repair, and ICT Literacy.

Fadhlina also mentioned that NADI offers families the option to purchase school uniforms through installment payments, without any interest or additional fees. This is designed to help parents manage expenses, especially when preparing school supplies for multiple children.

She emphasized the broader impact of the initiative, stating that it is not just about providing affordable uniforms but also about creating opportunities for individuals to utilize their skills for income generation. This approach benefits both the individual and the community, allowing one skill to positively impact two families.
