Kuala lumpur: Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, along with several Members of Parliament from Perikatan Nasional (PN), staged a walkout from the Dewan Rakyat today, abstaining from participating in the debate on the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) Report concerning Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the walkout included notable figures such as PN Chief Whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and PN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Samsuri Mokhtar. PAS lawmakers, including Datuk Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu), Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman (Bachok), Dr Halimah Ali (Kapar), and Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (Rantau Panjang), also joined in the action. Additional PN MPs participating in the walkout were Datuk Wan Saifulruddin Wan Jan (Tasek Gelugor), Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (Machang), and Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (Beluran).

Despite this, some Opposition MPs remained to engage with the special sitting, including Putrajaya MP Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin (Bersatu) and Langkawi MP Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (Bersatu). Earlier, Takiyuddin had proposed adjourning the special sitting due to the absence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, both of whom are reportedly receiving treatment for health issues.

The Special Dewan Rakyat Sitting was convened to offer MPs the opportunity to examine the TH RCI report, which became public on July 29 following the government's decision to disclose its findings. The report highlights various weaknesses in TH's management and operations between 2014 and 2020, along with 25 recommendations for improvement. As of July 30, 75 percent of these recommendations had been implemented by TH.
