Klang: The National Registration Department (JPN), in collaboration with several enforcement agencies, detained 22 foreign workers for using fake identity cards and MyKad belonging to others in a raid at a rubber factory in Sungai Kapar Indah, Klang.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JPN Enforcement director Mazhad Abdul Aziz stated that 74 individuals were inspected at the premise during the raid, conducted under Ops Getah at 3 pm. Of the total, 24 are Malaysian citizens. The 21 women and one man, all Indonesian nationals aged between 28 and 55, were detained after checks found they were using invalid MyKad. They will be taken to Putrajaya JPN for further action and investigation under Regulation 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990.

Mazhad highlighted that those involved could face imprisonment of up to three years, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both, if convicted. Meanwhile, checks by the Putrajaya Immigration Department (JIM) on 28 individuals at the same premise found 14 of them committing offences under the Immigration Act. Intelligence was carried out over one month to determine the whereabouts of the suspected individuals before the raid was conducted at the factory.

The planned and integrated operation was carried out to curb the misuse of identification documents, particularly identity cards, among foreign workers. The Ops Getah operation involved 65 personnel, comprising 40 JPN officers from Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, 20 officers from Putrajaya JIM and five officers from the Selangor Labour Department.
