Kelana jaya: New Selangor FC head coach Kim Pan Gon is confident his team can maintain their positive momentum in the ASEAN Club Championship when they take on Vietnam’s Cong An Hanoi FC in the Group A clash tomorrow. The Red Giants are set to welcome last year’s runners-up at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Stadium on Matchday 4, with their confidence high after securing four wins in the domestic competition.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pan Gon expressed his belief in the team’s preparations and urged supporters to attend the game, emphasizing the strength their support provides. “I believe we have done very well in our preparation, and I strongly hope our supporters will come to the stadium to support us. Their support will give us a lot of strength. We are trying to build our identity and our strengths at home, and our aim is to win our home matches. The players are confident, and we will give our best tomorrow,” he stated.
Selangor remains unbeaten in their ASEAN Club Championship debut this season, including a victory over Group A leaders Tampines Rovers FC in their only previous home game in the competition. The Red Giants also drew against defending champions Buriram United FC and DH Cebu FC in the Philippines, positioning them in second place in Group A, just one point behind Tampines Rovers with two matches remaining.
The top two teams from both Group A and Group B will advance to the semi-finals, making the upcoming matches crucial for Selangor’s aspirations in the tournament.
