Ichinomiya:Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated Malaysia's top women's doubles pair, Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah, for their achievement at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, where they won a bronze medal.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this victory ended a 12-year medal drought for Malaysia in the women's doubles event at the Asian Games. Anwar expressed his admiration for their determination and hopes this success will inspire other athletes to bring further recognition to Malaysia on the international stage.
The world number five pair, Tan and Thinaah, clinched the bronze after a challenging semi-final match against China's top seeds, Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning. The match, held at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium, lasted 85 minutes and saw the Malaysian duo deliver a spirited performance before succumbing 21-16, 20-22, 12-21 to the world number one pair.
