Perak State Announces Work From Home Policy for Civil Servants

Perak: The implementation of the Work From Home (WFH) policy for Perak state civil servants will commence on April 15, announced Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad. This decision aligns with the circular issued by the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, though it will be adapted to meet current needs and conditions of the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the implementation details were confirmed by Saarani during a press conference at the Perak Creative Fund@PORT (DKP) 2025/2026 presentation ceremony at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan. Saarani mentioned that the State Secretary (SUK) has issued a similar circular about the WFH start date, and the matter was discussed during the Exco meeting. The SUK and the Chief Secretary to the Government are currently studying the methods of implementation, which will vary from one state to another.

Saarani emphasized that the state government is committed to ensuring a smooth implementation of the WFH policy by adhering to established guidelines and meeting the requirements of the state civil service. The initiative is part of a strategic government measure to enhance preparedness for the global energy crisis resulting from the conflict in West Asia.

Earlier, on April 2, a circular announced that Federal Civil Service officers in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and state capitals with a one-way commute exceeding eight kilometres are eligible to WFH starting April 15.
