Perak: A 46-vehicle convoy involving 100 participants embarked on a patriotic journey across all 12 districts in Perak today through the 1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang Tour Programme, held in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day 2026 (HKHM2026) celebrations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Information Department (JAPEN) director Azrul Hasan said the programme adopted a roadshow concept aimed at bringing the spirit of patriotism closer to the people, with activities organised in a centralised, localised and interactive manner across all districts. "The programme aims to commemorate the nation's independence history, nurture patriotism among the people, and strengthen ties between government departments and agencies and the grassroots community through face-to-face interactions," he told reporters after the flag-off ceremony for the 1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang Tour at the State Broadcasting Department compound here today.
Azrul said the programme would see Jalur Gemilang kits distributed directly to representatives from seven clusters, namely health, security, industry, community, houses of worship, government agencies and sports. He said the tour programme would be further enlivened with various patriotic activities, including vehicle convoys, Merdeka cycling and running events, to encourage wider public participation.
Meanwhile, Azrul said the Perak state government, in collaboration with Perak JAPEN, is organising the Pertandingan Keceriaan as part of the Perak state-level National Month celebrations, offering total prizes worth RM52,500. He said the competition served as a platform for various segments of society to express their love for the country through creative decorations at their respective premises, inspired by the theme of independence.
"This competition features five categories, namely secondary schools, primary schools, decorated archways, district offices, local and private authorities, and individual participants," he said. Azrul said the winner in each category would receive RM5,000 in cash, along with a certificate and plaque, while the second and third-place winners would take home RM3,500 and RM2,000 respectively, together with certificates and plaques. He said entries for the competition would close on Aug 20, with the winners scheduled to be announced on Aug 31.
