PKR Urged to Persist in Reform Efforts by Nurul Izzah

Melaka: PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar emphasizes the necessity for ongoing reform efforts both within the party and in governmental policies and administration.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nurul Izzah stressed that the party's foundational struggle, originating from a reform movement, should persist beyond their governmental role, serving as a legacy for future generations. She highlighted the importance of continuous reform efforts by party members, even when in power.

Nurul Izzah delivered these remarks during her closing speech on the second day of the PKR 2026 National Congress at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC). She pointed out the importance of realizing initiatives like the repeal of the Universities and University Colleges Act (AUKU) 1971, which the PKR had earlier campaigned for, as achievable goals when the party holds governmental power.

She noted that the strong economic growth under the MADANI Government should translate into tangible benefits for the populace. This includes enhanced job opportunities and avenues for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as well as increased participation for women and young people in the mainstream economy. Nurul Izzah underscored the need for structural reforms to ensure fairer salary structures and wage rates that align with productivity.

Furthermore, she urged the PKR leadership to view power not as a personal asset but as a trust to be safeguarded. She reminded them that while positions and titles may fade, the lasting impact comes from the work accomplished and the values upheld.
