PM Anwar Urges Comprehensive Efforts to Alleviate Poverty Nationwide

Putrajaya: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the need for intensified and comprehensive efforts to uplift the poor across all levels of society. He called for these efforts to be mobilized effectively, resonating with the spirit of Ramadan, to assist the underprivileged regardless of race or religion.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar expressed the necessity for new initiatives and methods to improve efforts in alleviating poverty compared to previous months and years. He urged a thorough examination of the lives of people in every village and rural area from Perlis to Sabah, highlighting the importance of community involvement in every mosque, surau, school, house of worship, and hospital.

Speaking at the Iftar with Community Leaders at the Seri Perdana Complex, Anwar underscored that Ramadan embodies welfare, public good, and justice, which should be translated into concrete actions to aid those in need. He advocated for presenting Islam as a religion that exemplifies compassion and benevolence, surpassing all other ideologies.

In addition, he called upon PKR leaders at various levels to disseminate information and provide clear explanations to the public. During the event, the Prime Minister launched the 30-Container Malaysian Humanitarian Aid Mission to Gaza, an initiative expected to benefit over 100,000 Palestinians in Gaza. This nationwide effort is led by the Malaysian Islamic Organisations Consultative Council (MAPIM) in collaboration with Sumud Nusantara and supported by the Malaysian Government.

Also present at the event were the Prime Minister's wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, MAPIM CEO Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby, and Cinta Gaza Malaysia (CGM) CEO Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman.
