Nibong tebal: Police are tracking down a male suspect who attacked a man with a machete during an armed robbery at a convenience store in Taman Bistari here last Sunday. According to BERNAMA News Agency, South Seberang Perai district deputy police chief DSP Mohd Norazmi Abd Ghapar reported that the victim, aged 27, sustained injuries to his head and both arms during the robbery at 9.29 pm. The suspect managed to flee the scene with cash, several boxes of cigarettes, and a sling bag, resulting in an estimated loss of RM500. Police have obtained CCTV footage of the robbery and are conducting further analysis, including identifying the vehicle used by the suspect, which is believed to be using foreign registration plates. DSP Mohd Norazmi added that the victim, initially treated at Sungai Bakap Hospital, is currently in stable condition at Sunway Penang Hospital. A forensic examination was conducted at the robbery location to gather evidence, aiding investigations under Section 394 of the Penal Code. DSP Mohd Norazmi emphasized that investigations began promptly after a report was received and were not solely reliant on the video that became viral on social media today. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the robbery to contact the investigating officer, Insp Noremifarahana Tuan Roslan, at 04-5858222 or reach out to the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
